The Russian defense minister made calls to his British, French, and Turkish counterparts to warn that Ukraine may detonate a “dirty bomb.” The claim was written off as being groundless, but raises concerns of a nuclear attack that uses disinformation as a tool for deniability. This comes after both Russian and Ukrainian leaders have suggested using nuclear weapons in the ongoing war.
Meanwhile, Xi Jinping secures a third term as head of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). As this takes place, the regime has shown signs of preparing for war, and U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken is now warning that the CCP may attempt to take over Taiwan in an accelerated timeframe.

Stephen C. Meyer received his Ph.D. in the philosophy of science from the University of Cambridge. A former geophysicist and college professor, he now directs Discovery Institute’s Center for Science and Culture in Seattle. He has authored the New York Times best seller Darwin’s Doubt: The Explosive Origin of Animal Life and the Case for Intelligent Design (HarperOne, 2013), Signature in the Cell: DNA and the Evidence for Intelligent Design (HarperOne, 2009), which was named a Book of the Year by the Times (of London) Literary Supplement in 2009, and now, The Return of the God Hypothesis (HarperOne, 2021).
In his first book on intelligent design, Signature in the Cell: DNA and the Evidence for Intelligent Design (HarperOne, 2009) Meyer examined the mystery of the origin of the first life. With Darwin’s Doubt, he has expanded the scope of the case for intelligent design to the whole sweep of life’s history. Meyer’s research addresses the deepest mystery surrounding the origin of life and the origin of animal life: the origin of biological information necessary to produce it.
Meyer graduated from Whitworth College in Spokane, Washington, in 1981 with a degree in physics and earth science. He later became a geophysicist with Atlantic Richfield Company (ARCO) in Dallas, Texas. From 1981 to 1985, he worked for ARCO in digital signal processing and seismic survey interpretation. In 1986 as a Rotary International Scholar, he began his training in the history and philosophy of science at Cambridge University, earning an M.Phil. in 1987 and a Ph.D. in 1991. His doctoral thesis was titled “Of Clues and Causes: A Methodological Interpretation of Origin-of-Life Research.”
He returned to Whitworth in the fall of 1990 to teach philosophy and the philosophy of science. He left a tenured position as a professor at Whitworth in 2002 to direct the Center for Science and Culture full time, which he had helped found with John West in 1996.
Prior to the publication of Signature in the Cell and Darwin’s Doubt, the writing for which Meyer was best known was an August 2004 review essay in the Smithsonian Institution-affiliated peer-reviewed biology journal Proceedings of the Biological Society of Washington. The article laid out the evidential case for intelligent design, presenting it as the best explanation for the origin of the biological information necessary to produce the new forms of animal life that arose abruptly during the Cambrian explosion.
Because the article was the first peer-reviewed publication arguing for intelligent design in a technical journal, it proved extremely controversial.  The journal’s editor, evolutionary biologist Richard Sternberg, was punished by his Smithsonian supervisors for allowing Meyer’s article into print. This led to the investigation of top Smithsonian personnel by the U.S. Office of Special Counsel.  The controversy was widely covered in the media with articles or news stories appearing about it in The Wall Street Journal, Science, Nature, NPR, The O’Reilly Factor and the Washington Post. The federal investigation eventually concluded that Sternberg had been wrongly disciplined and intimidated.
Meyer’s many other publications include contributions to, and the editing of, the peer-reviewed volume Darwinism, Design and Public Education (Michigan State University Press, 2004) and the innovative textbook Explore Evolution (Hill House Publishers, 2007).
Meyer has also published editorials in national newspapers such as The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, The National Post (of Canada), The Daily Telegraph (of London) and The Los Angeles Times.  He has appeared on national television and radio programs such as The Jim Lehrer News Hour, NBC Nightly News, ABC Nightly News, CBS Sunday Morning, Nightline, Fox News Live, Paula Zahn Now (CNN), Good Morning America and the Tavis Smiley Show on PBS.  He has also been featured in two New York Times front-page stories and has garnered attention in other top national media.
In 2008, he appeared with Ben Stein in the theatrical-released documentary Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed.  He has also been featured prominently in the science documentaries Icons of Evolution, The Case for a Creator, Darwin’s Dilemma and Unlocking The Mystery of Life, the latter which was shown on PBS and which Meyer co-wrote with producer Lad Allen.

About Dr. Bruce Greyson Dr. Bruce Greyson is the Chester Carlson Professor Emeritus of Psychiatry and Neurobehavioral Sciences at the University of Virginia. He was previously on the medical faculty at the University of Michigan and the University of Connecticut, where he was Clinical Chief of Psychiatry. Dr. Greyson has consulted with the National Institutes of Health and addressed symposia on consciousness at the United Nations and at the Dalai Lama’s compound in Dharamsala, India. He has earned awards for his medical research and was elected a Distinguished Life Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, the highest honor bestowed by that organization. Dr. Greyson’s interest in near-death experiences began just a few months after graduating from medical school, when he treated an unconscious patient in the emergency room who stunned him the next morning with an account of leaving her body. That event challenged his beliefs about the mind and the brain, and ultimately led him on a journey to study near-death experiences scientifically, leading to more than a hundred publications in medical journals. He co-founded the International Association for Near-Death Studies (IANDS), an organization to support and promote research into these experiences, and for 27 years edited the Journal of Near-Death Studies, the only scholarly journal dedicated to near-death research. Through his research, he has discovered common and universal themes in near-death experiences that go beyond neurophysiological or cultural interpretations, as well as patterns of consistent aftereffects on individuals’ attitudes, beliefs, values, and personalities. Ukrainian forces are poised to rout Russian defensive formations around the critical southern city of Kherson. This comes weeks after a planned counter offensive went into effect, but on the heels of significant gains made against Russian troops in Ukraine's northeast, which saw Kyiv recapture Izium and and the strategic rail hub of Lyman. Increasingly over the past decade, and more recently the past 3-5 years, the western fear of China has grown, to say the least. In many ways, this fear is justified. China is buying ports, oil fields, agricultural land, military outposts and strategic trade points around the globe, but especially in areas around US allies. They have a strong military, and an equally strong economy, they have no qualms killing their population and influencing other country’s governments to achieve their goals. They are unabashedly anti-democracy and they seem to be investing heavily in up and coming countries in Africa, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East. With less involvement on the world stage and the unfortunate swapping of foreign policies every 4 years in the US, it seems we’re failing to meet the Chinese threat and give it the attention it deserves because we’re too invested in problems at home. I would be more concerned if OPEC wasn't already struggling to meet its own quotas. Chronic underinvestment and a host of technical and...other production issues have been causing significant production declines throughout OPEC member nations, particularly among African producers. Throughout much of 2022, that figure has hovered between 1 and 2 million barrels per day below OPEC production targets. Add in the rest of OPEC+ (the 13 OPEC member states and other significant oil exporters, like Russia) and that figure tips over 3 million. Russia has lost 5,937 Russian soldiers since the beginning of their invasion. Newt’s guest is George Beebe, former director of the CIA’s Russia analysis and former advisor to Vice President Dick Cheney. He is currently the Director of Grand Strategy at the Quincy Institute. His book, The Russia Trap: How Our Shadow War with Russia Could Spiral into Nuclear Catastrophe is out now.
